The poet Javier Sicilia: "We do not understand Calderon's war" in Chiapas

About 300 activists, citizens and members of civil organizations left in silence from Cuernavaca, Morelos, heading to Mexico City to demand an end to violence. 
The poet Javier Sicilia, whose son was found dead in a car in March along with six others, National leads the March for Peace and Justice, which will cover just over 80 miles.
In the Glorieta de la Paz of Cuernavaca and shortly before embarking way, the poet appealed to Mexican President Felipe Calderon, after he issued on Wednesday a message through a national chain, which said the violence would not end with "false starts."
"The president seems to not understand, it seems you have not heard, who have not had a good press reports or statements, and statements of many people who are leading, it seems that is misinformed, it seems that I heard when I visited him in Los Pinos, "he told the media.
Calderon said that "some people, good or bad faith, seek to stop the action of the government," but said it is necessary to persevere in fighting anti-crime and strengthen the police, the secretariats public safety and public attorneys in the country.
"These are changes that require time and effort to crystallize," he said. "It is essential to your understanding and your support, the support of the entire society."
The poet, who has generated a national reaction against the violence, said it can not comply with the request of the president because he can not understand the war.
"We also ask for understanding, we can not understand a war poorly planned, misguided war, we can not understand you do not understand that criminals are out there. If you are out there, is because institutions and state are co-opted, "he said.
